Ai in Tourism/Ethical Use of AI and Travel2Fits contribute

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a future concept for tourism it’s already transforming how destinations are promoted, how services are delivered, and how travelers interact with tourism professionals. From AI-powered chatbots and recommendation systems to dynamic pricing and data-driven decision-making, innovation is rapidly reshaping the sector. At the same time, these developments raise important questions around ethics, transparency, data protection, and trust.

At Travel2Fit, we believe that innovation in tourism must go hand in hand with responsibility. This belief is at the core of our contribution to the EthAI Tour project, a European initiative co-funded under Erasmus+ Key Action 2, focused on integrating the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence into Vocational Education and Training (VET) for tourism.

Bridging Technology and Tourism Practice

As a partner in EthAI Tour, Travel2Fit contributed to the development of training content that responds directly to the real needs of tourism professionals and VET learners. The training goes beyond technical explanations of AI and focuses on how AI tools are used in tourism businesses today. It also highlights the ethical considerations that must guide their adoption.

Learners explore practical applications such as AI-driven customer service, personalisation, analytics and generative AI. Moreover, critical topics include responsible data use, transparency, bias mitigation and compliance with European regulations. This approach ensures that future tourism professionals are not only digitally skilled but also ethically aware.

Did You Know That…

AI Is Already Embedded in Everyday Tourism Services

AI systems are widely used in tourism today, chatbots and virtual assistants that support travelers 24/7. Also, recommendation systems that personalise accommodation, activities, and itineraries. According to our training material, these systems rely on Machine Learning algorithms that analyse user data, preferences, and real-time conditions in order to improve service quality and efficiency.

AI Systems Are Designed to Act with Autonomy

AI systems are designed to perceive their environment, reason on data and make decisions with a degree of autonomy. This autonomy makes ethical governance essential, especially in tourism, where trust and personal data protection are critical.

Machine Learning Powers Tourism Pricing and Demand Forecasting

Supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning are used to support dynamic pricing, demand forecasting and resource optimisation. Airlines, hotels and platforms such as Booking.com and Airbnb already apply these techniques to adjust prices and availability based on demand patterns—raising important ethical questions around transparency and fairness.

Generative AI Is Changing Tourism Communication

Generative AI tools, such as Large Language Models, are now used to create personalised travel content, automated customer support and review summaries. While these tools can save time and improve engagement, the training emphasises the need for responsible use—ensuring accuracy, avoiding bias and maintaining authentic human interaction in tourism services.

Ethical AI Affects Everyone in the Tourism Ecosystem

AI impacts not only businesses, but also tourism workers, destinations, policymakers and travellers. AI can improve working conditions and decision-making. It also requires new skills, ethical awareness and compliance with data protection and AI regulations.

Travel2Fit supports VET schools with practical, evidence-based content that bridges technology, ethics and real-world tourism practice. Learners gain a clear understanding of AI fundamentals while developing the critical thinking skills. It’s essential to apply AI responsibly in their future careers.

Through the EthAI Tour project, we are committed to promote ethical innovation, skills development, and sustainable digital transformation in the tourism sector. We are helping to shape a smarter, more trustworthy, and more human-centered industry.
